Effective immediately, the CO811 Board of Directors has asked Mr. Barry Miller to step in as Interim Executive Director for a period of time while they determine how the organization will move forward. Barry has a long history with CO811 providing consulting services since 2003. Prior to starting work on October 03, 2022 as the Interim Executive Director, he provided consulting services for Gopher State 811, One Call Concepts, Indiana 811, Georgia 811, Pipeline Association for Public Awareness, Common Ground Alliance and Xcel Energy.
Barry attended the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) in Golden, CO during the late 70’s and then worked throughout the U.S. as a Geophysical Engineer through the mid 80’s. Next, he founded and served as President of a networking and software development firm providing IT services for the justice system in Colorado through 1993. From 1994 through 2000, Barry held senior and executive IT roles in the Financial Services industry. Returning to CSM from 2000 through 2002, he earned a degree as an Energy Economist and started his third company providing business forecasting and data analysis services to the One Call and Utility industries. Barry developed a unique econometric forecasting method for CO811 and has published both the annual business forecast and the state damage report and county report cards since 2003.
He sees the role of Executive Director as a facilitator; interfacing between the Board and staff to help remove roadblocks and acquire the resources that are needed to function as an effective contact center. Barry extends a special thanks to Vice President Jose Espino and the senior staff at CO811 for facilitating a smooth transition and ensuring the facility owners and excavator community continue to receive the vital services required by the One Call Law. The staff at CO811 are dedicated and hard working and a valuable resource to help keep Colorado’s underground facility infrastructure working and the public safe.
