An Update from NUCA on Critical Workplace Stay Home Order

The Construction Industry had a great victory on Sunday night by being included in the “Critical Workplace” list that Governor Polis listed on his Executive Order thereby allowing those in our industry to continue working and continue moving forward. Now let’s be sure that we continue to give Governor Polis and other elected officials a reason to keep Construction on the list by enforcing the social distancing 6 foot rule and other public health directives i.e. hand washing for 20 seconds. Read Governor Polis’ Executive Order Here

Mayor Hancock announced yesterday (3/23) that he is ordering Denver City and County residents to “Stay at Home” starting at 5pm today (3/24) and going until April 10, 2020. By then, Public Health Director Bob McDonald said, city officials will be able to determine whether the spread of the virus, which causes the respiratory illness COVID-19, is slowing.

The order closes nonessential businesses and public places. Residents are required to shelter in their homes, leaving only when they must. Grocery shopping and doctor visits are examples of exemptions to the order. Under the order, restaurants can still offer carryout and delivery. Denver International Airport will also continue to operate. While playgrounds will close, Hancock said city parks will remain open with social distancing strongly encouraged.

He said he anticipates other communities in the metropolitan area could issue their own stay-at-home orders, but it appears unlikely Colorado Gov. Jared Polis will do so statewide in the near future. Read More Here

All things COVID-19 related are changing practically hourly and again we want to be sure that we (the Construction Industry) stay a part of the critical workplace and that we do not give any reason to be taken off of that list. Enforce the 6 foot social distancing rule.
